The Cut/Copy and Paste Tutorial

In this tutorial you will learn the meaning of cut/copy/paste and how to execute a cut/copy/paste.

The cut/copy/paste procedure is one of the simpler and more useful text manipulation tools featured in windows and is used by all text processors as well as other programs.

What is a cut/copy/paste operation? A cut/copy and paste operation involves moving selected text to a new location. The procedure for both cut and paste are exactly the same. The end result is different.
1) In a cut operation the original text is removed (cut) from its original location.
2) If the operation is to copy, then the original text is left in its original location.
3) The paste part of the operation inserts the selected text in a new location.

Ok so how do we do a cut/copy and paste.

Step 1.  Select the  material to be cut or copied.  The selection is accomplished by placing the mouse pointer at the beginning or end of the material and dragging the mouse over the material while holding down the left mouse button

Step 2. Click the right mouse button and the left click on the "cut" or "copy" option on the pop-up menu.  The paste option is dimmed and not available at this point. (Remember you select "cut" or "copy" based upon what you want to happen to the selected text at its original location.

Step 3. Locate the point where you want the selected text to be inserted and place the mouse pointer at that point and left click.  Then right click and select "paste" from the pop-up menu. The text will be inserted at the pointer location.
